Zenith Zoysia® is an improved zoysia cultivars designed and sold by Patten Seed Company/Super-Sod. Zenith is similar to Meyer in many respects, including blade width and color. It is somewhat less dense, thus making it easier to mow. Zenith grows well in full sun or under light shade and has excellent heat and cold tolerance. Zenith Zoysia can be planted during the winter time when it is dormant and is also the only zoysia variety that can be planted using seed.
Requirements & Characteristics
Light Requirements: Zenith Zoysia® is a shade tolerant warm season grasses available in Georgia and the Atlanta Area. 5 hours of sun or more is recommeneded and has been a suitable replacement for many Fescue yards in Metro Atlanta.
Irrigation: Extremely drought tolerant. Water to supplement rainfall shortages only. To maintain a healthy appearance during the hottest months of summer, Zenith Zoysia® needs about 1 to 1 1/4 inches of water a week. On sandy soils it often requires more frequent watering, for example, 1/2 inch of water every third day. A light green-grey color and narrowing of leaves indicate that it is time to water.
